| My son has a plastic boat he's played with in the tub for years and it still floats. Altho the finish is a bit dull. |

Roplene IS a plastic you nucklehead.
Triumph (GENMAR subsidiary) manufactures a line of boats (up to 22 feet) that are rotomolded into a single uniformed hull. The hull is filled with insulation which not only provides additional bouancy but greatly diminishes external noises when cruising. (unlike those multi-riveted aluminum cans Lund makes )
The nice thing about Roplene is the low maintenance and durability. You can't dent these things and it literally bounces off objects as the hull can flex upon impact and return to its original shape. If damage does occur (i.e. scratches from beaching or slamming into rebar at full throttle) repairs are easily made by using a heated polymer fill. Once cool and dry all that is required is some minor sanding and the boat is returned to new.
If you want more info check out http://www.triumphboats.com/. These are not your bathtub variety "plastic" boats Grampa bought you as kid! |
